IAE V2500
The IAE V2500 is a two-shaft high-bypass turbofan engine which powers the Airbus A320 family (A320, A321, A319 and the Airbus Corporate Jet), the McDonnell Douglas MD-90, and the Embraer KC-390.
The engine name symbolises on one hand the roman letter 5 for the number of the original aero-engine manufacturers of the International Aero Engines consortium, formed in 1983 to produce the V2500 engine. On the other hand, the 2500 represents the thrust class of 25,000 lbf (111 kN) of the first engine V2500-A1. FAA type certification for the V2500 was granted in 1988.
