The new France VFR Regional series was designed and developed to provide a VFR flight environment as realistic as possible. It is the result of years of experience and practice in flight simulation and 3D modelling.

VFR Regional products embed all enhancements from the new 3DAutomation technology developed by France VFR. This technology already allows us to generate the most realistic and dense environments ever seen. It is not intended to model the real world accurately but to create a copy 'as real as it gets' on a massive scale. It will evolve to adapt to the needs and new data available.

Technical specifications

  • Ground textures from 0.8 to 1.20 metre / pixel resolution from IGN aerial photography reworked for an optimal visual rendition in FSX/P3D (summer only)
  • Dedicated mesh with high definition 4.75 metres (LOD13)
  • Lakes and rivers with navigable waters fitting the texture
  • Transparency management of the seabed on the entire scene.
  • Semi-detailed generic airports including flatten platform correction
  • Obstacles and VFR landmarks modelled on the entire scene including the official SIA database (antennas, towers, water towers, wind turbines, various constructions etc.)
  • Hundreds of thousands of objects and notable buildings integrated into the environment (churches, power plants, silos, castles, industrial tanks, bridges, tolls, cranes, boats, streetlights, road signs etc.)
  • Integration of 3D Automation technology allowing multi-million buildings and realistic vegetation areas fitting geographic specs
  • Extremely dense and optimised vegetation coverage using a custom rendering module controlled by artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Autogen buildings including additional specific and optimised 3D variations
  • Geo-referenced data for maximum compatibility with future add-ons installed on the same area
  • Development process 100% Microsoft SDK specifications compliant, ensuring maximum compatibility with new releases

INSTALLATION

Every France VFR product provides an automated installation program consisting of one or more executable files, which you should unzip to your desktop first.

Run the first installation program provided (usually bearing the number 1) and follow program instructions. When completed, run the following programs to complete the installation and run the host simulator. You can  create or select a flight. Installer supports automatic declaration in scenery library. The installation process completes after your host simulator is launched.

Note: This program installs new dedicated autogen descriptions and a new set of texture for vegetation. It will automatically back up old files in a subdirectory of their home directory. If other programs manage these files, make sure they also offer a back-up.

UNINSTALLATION

To uninstall your France VFR product, follow these steps:

  • Click the « START » button in the Windows taskbar.
  • Click on 'Programs' then 'France VFR' and then locate the menu option for your product.
  • Click the uninstall option.

SETTINGS

In the 'Options' menu, select 'SETTINGS / DISPLAY'.

We offer below a sample configuration that includes only the most significant parameters for a powerful configuration (you'll have to adjust these settings depending on your configuration):

  • Level of detail radius - Maximum
  • Complexity of the frame - 100
  • Resolution of the frame - 2m
  • Resolution of the texture - 60cm
  • Water effects - Low 2.x / Medium 2.x
  • Level of ground textures - Checked
  • Scenery Complexity - Dense/Extremely dense
  • Autogen density - Dense/Extremely dense
  • Ground objects shadows - Unchecked
  • Road vehicles traffic - 10/15

OPTIMISATION / CONFIGURATION

We strongly recommend that you defragment your hard drive before installing your FRANCE VFR product, in order to obtain better performance loading textures.

If you encounter issues with graphical artifacts or messages indicating a lack of memory, please decrease slider settings for scenic complexity and self-generated density.

32-BIT CONFIGURATION

Our 3D Automation technology is able to generate the full set of buildings for the region, much more than your host simulator can handle! It is strongly recommanded that you use a 64-bit OS like Windows 7 with at least 8GB RAM in order to display the maximum of objects and buildings. With a 32-bit operating system the host simulator cannot display so many objects and you’ll have to deactivate the « xxx – Ground Layer 64bits »  in your Scenery Library to avoid memory overflow.

EXTRAS FILES

Some « extras » files have been added separately to make the scenery more efficient. These files are located in the « Extras » directory of the scenery and contains light poles, secondary buildings, local road traffic, small antennas etc.

Depending on your configuration you just have to copy all or some of them into the Scenery directory (at the same directory level) to enable them.

A readme.txt file is provided in the 'Extras' directory for further informations.

CHARTS AND FLIGHT DOCUMENTATION

After installing your product all documentation files and SIA-DIRCAM/DIA airport charts are located in the « \France VFR\ » folder of your main host flight simulator directory.
