The Tomahawk is a twin seat, fixed undercarriage piston-engined aircraft designed primarily for use as a trainer and tourer. Competing with the C150 and C152 at the budget end of the light aircraft market, the PA-38 was first flown in 1978 and ceased production in 1982, with close to 2,500 of the aircraft having been built.
The Tomahawk II variant modelled here was introduced towards the end of the aircraft's production run in 1981. Many improvements were introduced, but most noticeable were the changes to the elevator trim, increase in engine thrust and larger wheels for improved ground clearance.
