With the aim of bringing you the most authentic
146 Professional add-on possible, Martyn and Mark from the Just Flight development team, along with sound specialist Mike Maarse, took a trip to
No. 32 (The Royal) Squadron at RAF Northolt, which carries out VIP and military transport duties using four 146 aircraft.
They had the opportunity to tour both the VIP-configured CC.Mk 2 and the Quick Change (QC) C.Mk 3 aircraft, taking hundreds of photos to fill in some gaps in their reference material and recording as many custom sounds as possible. Their hosts were kind enough to power up the aircraft just for the sound recording, which was much appreciated - it's always interesting to hear all the the individual sounds of the controls and surfaces without the engine noise drowning them out!
Many thanks to Andy, Joe and everyone at No. 32 Squadron for their generous hospitality and assistance and to Mike, who flew over from Holland just for the day.
Here are few photos from the day and there's a short video on the
146 Professional In Development page which features the flap, lift dump and airbrake tests that were carried out for animation and sound recording.
