fsx-compatible version of raf vulcan now available to download. Upgrade for FS2004 version also available now. Boxed version coming soon - see the news item below for full details.
RAF Vulcan has now been updated for Flight Simulator X.
This new download version of RAF Vulcan for FSX/FS2004 is also compatible with Windows Vista and (with some minor limitations outlined below) the Flight Simulator SP2 service pack and Acceleration expansion.
Existing owners of the Just Flight FS2004 version of RAF Vulcan can purchase a downloadable upgrade to FSX/Windows XP compatibility for £4.99.
Now updated for FSX compatibility, RAF Vulcan includes a faithful model from acclaimed developers PSS of XH558 as it appears currently, an additional eight all-new liveries from some of the aircraft involved in the Falklands conflict of 1982, and some of the preserved aircraft in the UK.
RAF Vulcan contains a total of eighteen examples in different Squadron liveries and with different model variations, including the 2K air-to-air refuelling tanker variant and those carrying the Blue Steel British nuclear cruise missile, the Shrike anti-radar missile as used in the Falklands, and the ‘project cancelled’ Skybolt missiles.
While we have made every effort to update RAF Vulcan as completely as possible, unfortunately a few features of RAF Vulcan do not function in all the host sims:
- RAF Cottesmore scenery is only available in FS2002 and FS2004
- The one-button ‘quick start’ function only operates in FS2002 and FS2004
- Autopilot is only available in FS2002, FS2004 and FSX (but not FSX with Acceleration and/or Service Pack 2 installed)

Issue 2 of Fighting High is available now as a 28-page PDF and is completely free, although you are welcome to make a donation on the website. It's a fascinating read and a well produced magazine, as you'd expect from the Editor, Steve Darlow, a military aviation author with seven published books to his name. You can take a look at Steve's main website here. Steve describes the content of the new issue in his Fighting High editorial: "Issue 2 follows the tone set in Issue 1, as first hand accounts, primary source material and unpublished photographs and illustrations describe the World War Two air battle and its aftermath. In the following pages you can read of the instinctive bravery of an Australian airman and the story behind the sacrifice of three particular American Eighth Air Force airmen. The combat reports featured in this issue graphically illustrate the perils experienced by RAF Bomber Command aircrew as they fight the night battle, and the Air Battle Now article delves behind the scenes of warbird restoration. Finally there is a special feature of ‘Kriegie’ illustrations." You can download a copy of Fighting High from the website, where Issue 1 is still available. |
