British Airports series (Volumes 1-4)

Installation - For details on installation please see the Installation hints page.

Sceneries - Basically all sceneries show with their buildings, objects and structures. In rare cases ground textures have been observed flickering at some of the airports.

AI traffic - Custom AI traffic provided with the sceneries does not show; the tools for adjusting AI traffic have no effect.

FS 2004 AI aircraft are parking off designed parking positions and are taxiing off runways and taxiways.

Conclusion - Apart from few ground flickering and AI traffic issues, British Airports (Volumes 1-4) are FS 2004 compatible.

Upgrade - There is now a patch available for each volume of British Aiports in the Support section. These allow installation into FS2004 and also resolve the flickering textures.

Captain Speaking (all versions)

FS2004 does not support adventures that have been programmed in the programming language used by Captain Speaking. Thus Captain Speaking will not work in FS2004.

Dash 8-300 Professional

Aircraft: There is an FS2004 update for the Aircraft in the Support section.

Please note that the heading and course operating knobs will only work in 10-degree increments unless you have a fully registered version of FSUIPC installed in FS2004.

Scenery: In all sceneries AI traffic is parking off designed parking positions and is taxiing off runways and taxiways.

1) EDDF (Frankfurt/Main)
The scenery basically displays OK; ground textures may flicker.

2) EHAM (Amsterdam Schiphol)
At daytimes the scenery is displaying OK; at night time there are texture ‘artefacts’ around apron floodlight beams.

3) EGLC (London City)
Ground textures are flickering. There are no plans to update the scenery to FS2004.

DreamFleet Aircraft

Cessna 310
Cessna 152
Cessna 177 Cardinal
Piper Archer II

The following information has been brought to us by the developers, DreamFleet 2000:

Cessna 310: Designed for both FS2002 & FS2004. No update required.

Cessna 152: Designed for both FS2002 & FS2004. No update required.

Cessna 177 Cardinal: A FREE update will be provided, and this update will accomplish the following:
1. Replace the current GPS with the new FS2004 Garmin GPS500.
2. Update gauge sounds to the new DirectX 9 standards that are required for FS2004.

Piper Archer II: DreamFleet has announced the release of the patch for the Archer that will make the aircraft fully compatible in FS2004. DreamFleet says "Not very much has changed in this update, as the Archer was very much compatible with FS2004 when it was first released. However, the following has changed:

1. The FS2002 default GPS has been replaced with the Garmin GPS 500 moving map GPS that comes as standard with FS2004.
2. Gauge sounds have been updated to comply with the latest standards of DirectX 9, which is required by FS2004. We have also added open /close cabin door sounds, and the Turn Coordinator gyro sounds (these gyro sounds are barely audible in the real Archer, but some folks asked for them, so we added them!)"

The update is available from the DreamFleet website.

The Cessna 177 Cardinal and Piper Archer's Virtual Cockpits WILL have working click spots and gauges in FS2004. Any virtual cockpit with gauges installed in it in FS2002 will now have their click spots working in FS2004. This does not just apply to DreamFleet products.

For further information please check the developer's website.

GB Airports for FS2002

Installation - For details on installation please see the Installation hints page.

Sceneries - Basically all sceneries show with their buildings, objects and structures. Dynamic elements work.

Some textures are showing transparency issues (trees, rooftops etc.); some ground objects don't match the landscape by 100% (some trees standing in lakes etc.); ground textures are flickering at most of the airports.

FS2004 AI aircraft are parking off designed parking positions and are taxiing off runways and taxiways.

Conclusion - Apart from the issues mentioned, GB Airports is FS2004 compatible.

Greatest Airliners: 737-400

Aircraft - The models are not being displayed correctly. Gears are missing, the aircraft seem to be hovering in the air.

Panel / Overhead Panel - The panels and main systems do not work. They are dark, instruments off - the panels and cannot be activated, causing error messages when trying to load the panel.

Conclusion - Greatest Airliners: 737-400 currently is not FS2004 compatible.

Flight One Software and DreamFleet plan on carrying this product line into the future. Unfortunately, the current version, based on a core code base built around FS2000, will not be able to be upgraded or supported for FS2004.

The current plans are for a full re-coding of the product, all to FS2004 specifications, thus creating an all-new product.

MiG-21 Interceptor

Installation - For details on installation please see the Installation hints page.

Aircraft - The models display and work fully with no issues.

Panels/Systems - The panels and main systems work with no issues.

Scenery - The airport sceneries cannot be selected in FS2004. The airfields will be displayed in their programmed locations, however especially ground textures are flickering frequently.

Conclusion - Apart from the scenery issues MiG-21 can be considered fully FS2004 compatible.

RAF Tornado/Tornado Jagdbomber

There is an upgrade for FS2004 in the Support section. Download and install for full FS2004 operation.

VFR Photographic Scenery Volume 1- East & South-East England

Installation - The following guide covers installation of VFR Photographic Scenery Vol. 1 only. For installation of any other volumes in this series please see the VFR Photographic Scenery Vols. 2-4 section below.

The main issue when installing FS2002 software into FS2004 is the selection of the appropriate installation folder. The installer program reads the information from the Windows Registry and automatically offers to install the software into the folder of Flight Simulator.

As Flight Simulator 2004 has not been known to the installer so far it only will offer an installation into the FS2002 folder. For VFR Photographic Scenery Vol. 1 we are providing a tool that modifies the Windows Registry to make the installer ‘think’ it will install into FS2002 - in fact it will install into FS2004. This also works if no FS2002 is installed at all on your system.

Please note that installation of VFR Photographic Scenery Vol. 1 will only work as described below - please do the following:

Download the tool VFR1FS2004.exe from the VFR Photographic scenery support page in the Support section.

Save it to your hard disk, open Windows Explorer, browse for the file ‘VFR1FS2004.exe’ and double-click on it to run it.

You will be shown a warning message.

Please read and click the ‘OK’ button. You then will be presented a Window that shows the Windows Registry stored paths of Flight Simulator 2002 and 2004. If no FS2002 is installed on your system a new entry will be generated.

Click on the ‘Alias’ button. You will see a warning message.

Please read this message and click ‘OK’. The FS2002 path will change to the folder where FS2004 actually is located. The program will immediately exit.

Now install VFR Photographic Scenery Vol. 1 as usual - insert the VFR Photographic Scenery Vol. 1 CD into your CD drive. Click the ‘Install’ button, cancel the demo video, choose your preferred install language, press ‘Next’ on the welcome screen and comfirm the Licence Agreement with ‘OK’.

The next Window will show the install folder.

The path under ‘Destination Folder’ should already point to your FS2004 folder. When choosing a default installation of FS2004 this will be C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9. Verify the folder and click ‘Next’. The rest of the installation process will be as described in the manual.

After installation has been completed you must restore your original Windows Registry settings.

Run VFR1FS2004, confirm the warning message with ‘OK’. The program window will show the current registry settings. It will tell you that FS2002 currently is aliased (pointing to) the FS2004 folder.

Press ‘Restore’ to restore the default settings. Confirm the message with ‘OK’. The program exits automatically and your settings have been restored.

Uninstall works according to the VFR Photographic Scenery Vol. 1 manual; there are no special points to be considered.

Scenery - All scenery seems to show as designed. The custom water texture set is not automatically installed, thus won't show.

Tools - As some Flight Simulator ‘system’ files and folders have changed, the settings made by the Terrain-tweaking tool have no effect.

Conclusion - The products of the VFR Photographic Scenery series (Volumes 1-4) can be considered as FS2004 compatible.

VFR Photographic Scenery series (Volumes 2-4)

Installation - For details on installation please see the Installation hints page.

Important! VFR photographic scenery Vol. 1 requires a different operation to install into FS2004. Please see above for this information.

Scenery - All scenery seems to show as designed. The custom water texture set is not automatically installed, thus won't show.

Tools - As some Flight Simulator ‘system’ files and folders have changed, the settings made by the Terrain-tweaking tool have no effect.

Conclusion - The products of the VFR Photographic Scenery series Volumes 1-4 can be considered as FS2004 compatible.

World Airliners 747-400 & 777-200 Professional

Installation - For details on installation please see the Installation hints page.

Aircraft - The models are not being displayed correctly. Gears are missing and the aircraft seem to be hovering in the air.
